Hi Carmelo. Glad you like my little site. I'm going to add lots of fun and interesting stuff this new year. Our parents need lots of help in raising us properly. It is our job to give them that help.

I'm fed twice a day. Breakfast is around 8 am daily and dinner is around 6:30 pm. I usually have a healthy treat at lunchtime and occasionally parts of daddy's lunch falls on the floor. I also get a few snacks after dinner. I'm always on the alert for food dropped on the floor.

From everything I've ready, the way to house train a puppy is to crate train them. After the puppy relieves themselves outside they can be let out of the cage to play. There's a lot more to this, of course.

Lucy was kept in a large octagonal "playpen" with a piddle pad. She learned to use the piddle pad, both in her pen and out. Eventually she learned to use the piddle pad all the time, until I started taking her for walks. She is now three but I still have the pads out. She does not use them anymore, except in an emergency, and only goes to the bathroom outside.

Check out my <a href="http://allmychihuahuas.com/chihuahua-help/potty-training/" title="Potty Training" rel="nofollow">Chihuahua Potty Training</a> Article.

Hi, we have yoda now about 2 weeks. He is 6 months old. He does go on puppy paper. Slips alittle. I try to take him outside, but he shakes and pulls to go back up the stairs to go inside. He did pee outside twice but has not since. We have him in a fence area in our kitchen right now. We do have a 7 year old maltese that we are trying to introduce slowly to each other. Do you have any suggestions on how to train on going outdoors?

Watching your little Chihuahua (or any dog for that matter) have a seizure is a very scary sight. It's best to keep them safe and warm during and after the seizure. Try not to panic because your dog will pick up on this and be scared too.

I'm not a vet so I don't know what's wrong with your Chihuahua. I know my last Chihuahua, named Tasha, had seizures throughout her life. Tasha also just stiffened up and became disoriented. When she came out of it she was unsteady for a little while then acted like nothing happened. Eventually she was put on medication which helped keep down the number of seizures. She lived to be 15.

Perhaps you can find a low cost vet or animal clinic in your area. I always felt better after my Chihuahua had seen a vet. You can also search for an online vet. Not as good as seeing one, but maybe better than nothing.

Sadie had a seizure earlier this evening, her second this month. The last one was about six months ago and a few a year ago . tonight she was on the couch I heard her jump off the couch and was under my feet in a few seconds. I was on the computer. She could not stand and I picked her up and wraped her in her blanket. Held her close and talked her through it. She doesn't convulse , just stiffens up. It scared me. I love her very much. She is nine years old and like many people I can't afford to take her to a vet. What is wrong with my Sadie?

I hope Sophi is feeling better. I'm not an expert, but it could be the stress of being left alone or traveling or both. All dogs, including Chihuahuas, love having company and sticking to a schedule. Being alone and having their routine changed can cause a change in their behavior.

If your Chihuahua is still acting strange, I would take her to the vet to make sure there is nothing physically wrong. Better to be safe than sorry.

Anyone else with a similar problem or advice?

Question? Took my Chihuahua, she's six, with me out of town after having to repeatedly leave her at home before. She would not eat or hardly drink the whole time. She kept her tail tucked, head down, would not hardly even come to me. Totally stressed? Got home yesterday and she is still acting the same way. Could someone have hurt her causing such stress...PTSD? She was alone a lot there. Tried to make over her but she wouldn't relax or really accept the affection. My friends would never (I would hope not) harm her...she is so timid and sweet. She's always been by my side, always, and now she is very distant. Please tell me this is temporary.
Thanks:

This is very sad to hear. I've had a few dogs that have had seizures and lived to be 15 or 16 each. I am not a vet and do not know anything about your little Boo, but unless Boo is very old, being awake for only an hour a day seems like something is wrong. Maybe the medication is too strong.

I recommend either going to another vet for re-evalution or finding a low cost pet clinic in your area. Anyone else have any recommendations? Lucy and I wish you lots of luck.
